Definitions
- Pure-blood = born entirely of faerie parents
(NOT “born in the Faerie Realm”) - Generation = distance from the Cataclysm, not from original creation
Generational Timeline
Generation 1 — The Realm-Born Survivors
(Faerie Realm born, Cataclysm survivors — all dead now)
- Born before the Cataclysm, in the Faerie Realm
- Crossed or were stranded during the collapse
- Lived under mundane time afterward
- Lifespans: 500–800 years
- All are now dead — but recently in historical terms
These were:
- True nobles
- Courtiers
- Lesser lords
- Ladies-in-waiting
- Knights, heralds, stewards
They are the grandparents you’re referring to.
These figures dominate folklore, not current politics.
Generation 2 — The Pure-Blood Heirs
(Born post-Cataclysm, entirely faerie parentage)
This is the crucial category you were intuitively pointing at.
- Required minimum: 4+ stranded fae per court ✔
- Born on the mundane side
- Still pure-blood by lineage
- Grew up with faerie-realm parents and grandparents
- Lifespans: 350–600 years
- Most are now dead, but a handful may have survived into late history
These are:
- The last true pure-bloods
- Deeply tragic figures
- The ones who saw:
- courts shrink
- power fail
- siblings die childless
They remember the Faerie Realm through living memory.
Generation 3 — The Liminal Pure-Bloods / First Hybrids
Here’s where flexibility lives.
Two parallel paths (both valid, and both can coexist):
Path A: Pure-Blood, Weakened
- Two Gen-2 fae reproduce
- Still pure-blood
- But metaphysically thinner
- Lifespans: 250–400 years
Path B: First Hybrids
- Fey × Fey-touched mortal
- Or Fey × Human
- Lifespans: 200–300 years
These beings:
- Often outlived their own children
- Were raised by Gen-2 elders
- Are the last generation to see courts as functional entities
Some may still be alive today, old, diminished, and very rare.
Generation 4–5 — The Thinning Courts
- Lifespans: 120–200 years
- Courts become symbolic or territorial, not cosmic
- Bloodlines fracture
- Many lines die out here
These generations dominate:
- regional legends
- “witch families”
- barrow-lords and forest ladies
Generation 6–7 — The Residual Blood
- Lifespans: 80–130 years
- Fey traits are sporadic
- Bloodline identity is mostly lost
- These are your PCs, hedge-mages, uncanny villagers
They are legally irrelevant to the true courts — until the Veil thins again.
Returning Seelie Courts May Claim Lorn Are Not Seelie
The Seelie courts can claim:
“There are no rightful nobles left.”
And the mundane-side fey can respond:
“You abandoned us to time.”
