Acid

Keywords

Damage, Missile, Obvious

Casting Roll

None. Use Innate Attack (Projectile) to hit.

Range

100 yards.

Duration

Instantaneous.

Description

This Lattice manipulation conjures an arrow of condensed acid. Upon impact, it delivers 1d impaling damage, followed by an additional 1d corrosion damage for each level invested. The Guild calls it 'Acid Arrow'; I call it a messy end for those foolish enough to get in the way.

Statistics

Impaling Attack 1d (Blockable, -5%; Sorcery, -15%) [7] + Corrosion Attack 1d (Magical, -10%; Follow-Up, +0%) [9/level].

Archmagister's Counsel

This trivial exercise in destructive magic creates a potent projectile. A well-placed 'Acid Arrow' ends protracted negotiations with startling efficiency, allowing your coffers to fill without the protracted cost of a siege.

Range

Duration

Description

This manipulation of the Lattice manifests as an orb of pure acid, launched at a target. It inflicts 1d corrosion damage per level. The Guild calls it 'elemental magic;' I call it effective unless your target is already a puddle.

Statistics

Corrosion Attack (Blockable, -5%; Increased 1/2D, 5x, +10%; Reduced Range, 1/5, -20%; Sorcery, -15%) [7/level].

Casting Roll

None. Use Innate Attack (Gaze) to aim.

Range

100 yards.

Duration

10 seconds.

Description

This spell fills a 2-yard radius with corrosive, vision-obscuring fog for 10 seconds. It imposes a -5 penalty on all vision rolls through it. The fog inflicts 1d crushing damage per second to anyone caught within. Each additional level costs 10 points and increases the damage and area of effect.

Statistics

Obscure Vision 5 (Drifting, +20%; Link, +10%; Ranged, +50%; Sorcery, -15%; Variable, Area, +5%) [17] + Corrosion Attack 1d (Area Effect, 2 yards, +50%; Drifting, +20%; Link, +10%; Magical, -10%; Persistent, +40%; Variable, Area, +5%) [22]. Further levels add Area Effect (+50%) to both advantages [+10].

Archmagister's Counsel

A fine way to deny an enemy archer line-of-sight or, more effectively, to force an advancing regiment to choose between choking on acid or breaking ranks. The Lattice doesn't care if your blood boils or your eyes melt, only that it gets done.

15 points/level.

Acid

Keywords

Damage, Jet, Obvious, Summoning

Casting Roll

None. Use Innate Attack (Beam) to hit.

Range

10 yards.

Duration

One second.

Description

This spell projects a 10-yard jet of corrosive acid from the caster. It costs 15 points per level, inflicting Corrosion Attack damage with Destructive Parry, Melee-Capable (Reach 1), and Reflexive modifications. This unique combination allows parrying with the jet. The attack uses Innate Attack (Beam) for targeting. It's a one-second effect.

Statistics

Corrosion Attack (Destructive Parry, +10%; Jet, +0%; Melee-Capable, Reach 1, +15%; Reflexive, +40%; Sorcery, -15%) [15/level]. Note: Melee-Capable and Reflexive allow a jet to parry in this particular combination despite a jet normally being unable to do so.

Archmagister's Counsel

Why bother with a finely crafted sword when you can simply melt your opponent? A quick spray of this and your lord's enemies will be too busy screaming to plot rebellion.

Casting Roll

Range

Duration

3 minutes. The subject is sheathed in acid that deals 1d-1 corrosion damage to enemies who touch their body.

Description

This Lattice manipulation sheathes the subject in a corrosive aura, dealing 1d-1 corrosion damage to any who make physical contact with them. It operates for 3 minutes, with no conventional casting roll required; rather, it is 'aimed' using the Innate Attack (Gaze) skill, and has an effective range of 100 yards.

Statistics

Casting Roll

Will.

Range

Unlimited.

Duration

3 minutes.

Description

This Malediction manipulates the Lattice to make a subject acutely vulnerable to acid. For 3 minutes, any acid damage that bypasses their Damage Resistance is multiplied by 2, 3, or 4 (depending on the level of the curse) before normal wounding multipliers are applied. The target resists with a Will roll.

Statistics

Affliction 1 (HT; Disadvantage, Vulnerability (Acid, x2), +30%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Malediction 2, +150%; No Signature, +20%; Sorcery, ‑15%) [29]. Additional levels improve Disadvantage, Vulnerability (Acid, x2), +30% to Disadvantage, Vulnerability (Acid, x3), +45% and Disadvantage, Vulnerability (Acid, x4), +60%.

Archmagister's Counsel

When facing heavily armored opponents, a well-placed Acid Vulnerability can turn their formidable defenses into a liability, making even a minor acid attack catastrophically effective. It's not about how hard you hit, but where you hit, and this spell provides the 'where'.

Description

This manipulation of the Lattice coats a weapon in a pale green, acidic sheen for three minutes. The weapon then inflicts an additional 1d of follow-up corrosion damage on impact. It poses no harm to the wielder.

Statistics

Statistics

Range

Duration

30 minutes.

Description

This potent manipulation of the Lattice transforms a subject into an acidic form for 30 minutes, granting the 'Body of Acid' meta-trait. Clothing and gear up to the subject's BL morph along with them. The transformation bestows Amphibious, Constriction Attack, a corrosive Aura (1d-1), DR 10 (limited to acid, tough skin), Doesn't Breathe, Immunity to Metabolic Hazards and Noxious Acidic Effects, Injury Tolerance (Diffuse), Internal Sealed and Sealed (both acid-resistant), Pressure Support 3, and Slippery 5. It also imposes Invertebrate and Vulnerability to Dehydration attacks (x2). Cost is 217 points. There is no casting roll; aim with Innate Attack (Gaze) up to 100 yards.

Description

This unraveling of the Lattice creates a corrosive acid. On a success, the acid manifests in your hand if you're foolish or within arm's reach. You must place it in a container or on a target immediately, or it will affect you by the following turn. Damage is 1d-3 burning per level of the spell, every second for 10 seconds, and has the Corrosive and Surge special effects. Each additional second of duration costs 1 fatigue. Alternatively, you may pay 2 fatigue per level to summon it as a stable, permanent substance, causing it to deal damage only once. This cost is reduced by half if you can tolerate a weaker, non-Corrosive version. Range is touch, and it can be cast at a total cost of 22 points per level.

Statistics

Casting Roll

Will.

Range

100 yards.

Duration

30 minutes. Cast on an area, this spell protects all creatures within from acid. The sorcerer may choose which subjects (either individually or by type) receive the protection. Every protected subject becomes virtually immune to acid. He and all of his gear have DR 10 against acid – including not only Missile and Jet spells, but also to ingested acid and spells that bypass normal DR to cause direct, internal damage. Resistible acidic effects other than damage (e.g., a spell to inflict heartburn) simply fail, as though the subject had successfully resisted. In addition, all of his DR (from this spell, his armor, tough hide, etc.) is immune to being eroded away by acid. If a particular subject possesses DR with no Tough Skin limitation, the sorcerer’s casting roll is penalized by their DR as well as the normal range penalties. Calculate effective DR for this penalty according to the rules for Large-Area Injury (p. B400). By default, the DR equals to 10. More potent versions of this spell are available, as show below. DR Full Cost 10 81 points for level 1 + 5 points/additional level 20 121 points for level 1 + 5 points/additional level 30 161 points for level 1 + 5 points/additional level

Description

This Lattice manipulation shields everything in a 2-yard area from acid for 30 minutes, granting DR 10. The effect makes the subject and their gear virtually immune to all acidic effects, including ingested acid and those that normally bypass DR. Furthermore, existing DR is immune to acid-based erosion. The Sorcerer incurs a Will penalty equal to the target's existing DR if it lacks the Tough Skin limitation. Potent versions increase the DR to 20 or 30 for an additional cost.

Statistics

Affliction 1 (HT; Advantage, Mass Resist Acid 1, +580%; Area Effect, 2 yards, +50%; Extended Duration, 10x, +40%; Fixed Duration, +0%; Increased 1/2D, 10x, +15%; No Signature, +20%; Selective Area, +20%; Sorcery, -15%) [81]. Additional levels add further Resist Acid to Advantage (+400%) [+40]. Notes: “Mass Resist Acid 1” is Damage Resistance 10 (Force Field, +20%; Limited, Acid, -40%; Magical, -10%) [35] + Immunity to Noxious Acidic Effects (Magical, -10%) [9] + Internal Damage Resistance 10 (Limited, Acid, -40%; Magical, -10%) [5] + Internal Sealed (Acid-Resistant Only, below, -60%; Magical, -10%) [1] + Sealed (Acid-Resistant Only, below, -60%; Force Field, +20%; Magical, -10%) [8]. Additional levels add Area Effect (+50%) [+5]. Variants increase both DRs by 10 [+40]. As a special effect, the DR subtracts from the casting roll rather than forcing a resistance roll.

Archmagister's Counsel

Why bother with precise targeting when you can simply shield your entire vanguard from that noxious alchemist’s barrage? A well-timed Mass Resist Acid can neutralize an entire flanking maneuver based on acidic weaponry or spells.

Duration

Instantaneous. After casting, the GM rolls the sorcerer’s Per, with a penalty based on the distance to the nearest acid. The basic (19-point) version of this spell takes standard range penalties. The improved (24-point) one uses long-distance modifiers. If successful, the caster knows the exact distance and direction to the acid, and may make a follow-up IQ roll (at no penalty) to learn basic details about it (e.g., “it’s a flask of sulfuric acid” or “it’s an acid-breathing black dragon”).

Description

This working allows the caster’s perception to pierce the Lattice and locate acid. The basic 19-point version incurs standard range penalties. The improved 24-point version, however, suffers only long-distance modifiers for its search. Upon success, the caster knows precise distance and direction to the nearest acid, and an uncontested IQ roll can reveal basic properties, such as its nature or source.
